Microsoft’s choice to not add spell checking to IE is an interesting reflection of how they want to position the browser as a component of the Windows ecosystem, rather then a platform (and possibly some kind of internal dispute - I can&#039;t imagine the IE 8 team not thinking this was a good feature to add). 

As far as I can tell, there is no plan to add this to IE 8. There are, of course, 3rd-party alternatives, but still.</description>

Seems to me that Microsoft&#039;s strategy to keep Office licensing alive is deny browser functionality. Take spellchecking. Clearly not the role of a browser. One must spellcheck in Word.</description>

		<description>I&#039;m wondering when they&#039;re going to support basic content editing in the more &#039;open&#039; platforms rather than just IE. I couldn&#039;t believe that even in 2007 I can&#039;t get the normal editing features in Flock/FireFox.</description>
