Thanks Dan! Excellent point about the Big Boys. I have heard (I think from Gartner?) that they are taking the "good enough" approach to 2.o functionality in existing stacks. For example, Oracle purports that their latest evolution of Oracle Collaboration Suite, name Beehive, will have Web 2.0 features. But unless they rebuild that thing from the ground up, it will probably be window dressing at best. I could be wrong, but I just don't think they really get it.

This market is still shaking out so I will be keen to see who from the small guys makes it, and maybe who from the big boys doesn't.

Discovered your blog today - thoroughly enjoying it! 35 years old, please pick me for the your team too :)

I recently attended the Gartner PCC Summit in Bawlmer - rah rah! It validated my feeling that the way of the specialist is giving way to the need for the "versatilist" who can move freely across departmental and it/business realms. Long live the master generalist.

I was impressed/surprised by the sheer amount of interest in e2.0 by the big old boys. Of course the vendor showcase was like shooting fish in a barrel - so many tool-oriented companies ripe for the picking, despite the message in nearly every presentation that the E2.0 "phenomenon" is all about people and process, no one tool will save the day.
